What is Family Writing Night?

  • An opportunity for parents/caregivers to learn ways to support their children’s writing skills.
  • Time to write about a favorite family vacation or other event with your child.

Why Family Writing Night?

  • Research shows that good writing skills are a critical factor in a student’s success in school and beyond.
  • Studies have shown that students learn as much, if not more, from talking and writing as they do from reading and listening.
  • Many parents/caregivers are not comfortable writing themselves and are uncertain how they can help their children improve their writing skills.

  • Sherman School’s first Family Writing Night will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 6:30-7:30 in the Cafeteria (Snow date is February 19th)
